Theresa Shaw is a Penzance artist with an instantly recognisable style based on her love of colour, contrast and bold shapes. Originally from Nottingham and now living and working in Cornwall, the big skies and wild landscapes of the southwest provide endless inspiration for her unique paintings in acrylic gouache.

 

Quietly obsessed with line and form, Theresa endeavours to create images with a strong sense of rhythm and depth and throwing colour and contrast into the mix means that each piece makes a bold statement that is uniquely her own.

Theresa explores colour, form and contrast in an effort to express her fascination with the wild natural world. There is always a strong linear feel to her work as she strives to control the uncontrollable. She hopes her work is seen as uplifting and positive with the view that whatever else is happening in life or the wider world, there is still a bright spot of colour to bring joy.
